Fear is intrinsically a natural emotion designed to keep us safe. For example, it is useful to be fearful of lions as they could obviously cause us a great deal of harm. A phobia is similar to a fear as originally it was incorporated by the unconscious mind to help keep the individual safe. However a phobia could be said to be a ‘fear that has got out of hand and often the source of the fear (spiders, flying etc) would be very unlikely to cause actual harm. Phobias tend to take the fear to the next level and often cause immense pain to the individual concerned due to the energy needed to avoid the source of the fear to the limitations it can place on a person’s life. It is often a vicious circle as the more we try to avoid something the stronger the phobia will develop. There can also be a secondary issue of family and friends not taking the fear seriously if the phobia is more unusual e.g. Balloons or buttons.
If you are someone who is suffering from a phobia the above may sound all too familiar. I also have some very good news for you. Hypnotherapy has a very good track record in eliminating or vastly reducing the symptoms of phobias, sometimes very quickly. We can work together to identify the roots of the phobia and the triggers in your day to day life and using a blend of Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques do everything to change your thought processes and responses to de-sensitise the source of the phobia and make it something ‘you used to suffer from’. While unfortunately there are no guarantees, I have seen lifelong phobias eliminated in 2-3 Hypnotherapy sessions and a huge relief and increase in self. As someone who has had and successfully (via Hypnotherapy) got rid of a phobia I feel I am well placed to help my clients sensitively and systematically to eliminate theirs.
