It is a great sadness that levels of stress and anxiety seem to be on the up. It appears to be no coincidence that we have just gone through the biggest recession in most of our living memories. - Problems with decision making
- Change in eating/sleeping habits
- A feeling of an inability to cope
- Withdrawal from activities you used to enjoy
It is normal for stress levels to rise if you are going through or have recently gone through a major life change such as a bereavement, job loss or divorce. However feelings of too much stress can be overwhelming and exhausting and have an impact on your physical health.
Anxiety is a close relative of stress and if you experience feelings of anxiety you will recognise feelings of ‘worry’, mentally picturing the worst case scenario and ‘catastrophising’ future events to name just a few. All of which are very debilitating and have a real and profound effect on your enjoyment of day to day life.
